For more than 20 years, Björn has helped public-sector institutions and private enterprises to design and implement large-scale technology-driven transformations. His primary focus is on advising public-sector leaders on technology and AI transformations, helping them modernize government operations and shape the digital future of public administration. Björn is dedicated to aligning technology strategy with business objectives and strengthening the firm's capabilities in AI, cybersecurity, and platform modernization.
Within McKinsey Technology, Björn focuses on strengthening the firm’s capabilities in AI, cybersecurity, and platform modernization. He also drives the development of innovative delivery models that link business value with cutting-edge technology. He co-founded Ignite (previously Digital 20/20) and has been instrumental in building and scaling data-driven solutions such as Horizon360 and DTI.
In his client work and leadership roles, Björn is committed to linking technology excellence with public impact—helping governments and companies use digital and AI to increase productivity, resilience, and citizen value.

Before joining McKinsey, Björn earned a diploma in mathematics and computer science from the University of Freiburg and later completed his doctoral studies at the University of Bamberg. He regularly co-authors tech-focused publications, e.g. on the future of digital government and AI adoption in Europe.
